Carignan
Carignan is a red wine variety traditionally grown in France (in Midi, Languedoc and Provence), and also in Spain, Algeria, Israel and California.
It is the twelfth most cultivated red grape variety in the world. It is called Carignano in Italy, Cariñena, Mazuelo or Mazuela in Spain, and has been crossed with Cabernet Sauvignon to make Ruby Cabernet, which in turn has become famous in California.
