The grapes for this local wine grow in two vineyards around Osthofen on calcareous marl and loess-loam soil. The vines are 10-30 years old. The grapes are selected several times by hand so that only ripe and healthy grapes with must weights between 87 and 89° Oechsle are harvested in mid to late September. Spontaneous fermentation. This is followed by 6 months of ageing on the lees until the wine is bottled in May of the following year.
The 2022 vintage shows its characteristic notes in an impressive way. It reveals aromas of green apples and citrus fruits in combination with a subtle minerality and a pleasant acidity structure.

Das Weingut Steinmühle befindet sich in Osthofen, im südlichen Rheinhessen, dem Wonnegau. Es ist seit Anfang des 18. Jahrhunderts im Besitz der Familie und wird seit 2009 von Axel May geführt.
Die Weinberge liegen vor allem in Osthofen in den Lagen "Auf dem Schnapp", "Goldberg" und "Klosterberg", sowie im "Dittelsheimer Leckerberg".
Seit 2019 sind wir BIO-zertifiziert.
