The grapes for our Merlot Reserve grow in our vineyards in the Neusiedlersee wine-growing region, which is characterized by very dry, stony and mineral soils. Our new Merlot Reserve is characterized by a deep purple-red colour. The wine impresses with multi-layered aromas of red berries and mineral impressions. On the palate, the wine is fruity and spicy, very balanced and well-balanced. The Merlot Reserve is lively on the palate and ends with a complex, long finish. Very good ageing potential.

Wines full of character - in harmony with nature.
Zantho was founded out of a vision; the idea of working together to produce exceptional wines in harmony with nature and the region.
Our vineyards are cultivated by almost 50 local families, who work hard year after year on smaller plots to lay the foundations for optimum wine quality. Each family knows their vineyards inside out and has a great deal of know-how. Our quality measures were developed in collaboration with Josef Umathum and have been refined and adapted over the years.
Selective hand-picking, strict yield regulation, uncompromising foliage work, near-natural plant protection measures that are gentle on beneficial insects and the complete avoidance of herbicides are just some of the criteria that must be met in order to become a ZANTHO wine. We focus on indigenous grape varieties - these have been perfectly adapted to our climatic conditions and microclimates for decades and centuries and feel particularly at home here in the Seewinkel.
Our vineyards are located in the Neusiedlersee wine-growing region in Burgenland. Andau, the cradle of great red wines, is the center of our work, with the other vineyards spread over a large area in the region. This allows us to use a wide range of different microclimates and soils to guarantee optimal conditions for each grape variety.
We are increasingly focusing our efforts on sustainability and ecologically compatible work. We love our vineyards, our region and the people - they belong to us and are part of our wines.
