2020 Meerlust Rubicon

The 2020 Rubicon is a classic vintage of this iconic Cape wine. Very deep, youthful color and intense, almost purple hue. Typical Rubicon nose with violets, ripe plums, cedar wood, fennel and intense spiciness. A typical liquorice note can also be detected on the nose. Still young and intense, it promises further ageing potential. On the palate, it is full-bodied, structured, but full of fresh dark fruit and rounded, linear tannins that promise a long, pleasant maturation. An outstanding vintage from Rubicon, showing all the charm of a perfect vintage from ripe vines.

Recommendation: Serve decanted at 17 degrees Celsius, goes well with spicy meat dishes with dark meat, braised meats such as leg of lamb, shoulder of beef, ox cheeks, roasted game birds and mature hard cheese. We recommend enjoying this wine until 2028.
