2021 Herbarium Red

The listed building where Maanschijn makes its wines has lived many lives. It once served as a stable and was later occupied by Oom Sampie, a local from Walker Bay, who dried a selection of local flowers within its walls. The herbarium is a tribute to Sampie and this wonderful activity.
The fruit was fermented separately in whole bunches for eight to five days before being pressed with a basket press. Maturation lasted nine months in old French oak. The wine was blended by hand and bottled without fining or filtration.
