Skip to contentComplex nose of ripe fruit, delicately exotic and black pepper - great Veltliner from old vines!
Open and expressive on the nose, playful with spicy and exotic notes; spicy on the palate with pressure and multi-layered aromas, very elegant and good drinking flow; long-lasting. Smaragd stands for dry, dense and complex wines from the Wachau; in addition to structure and depth, Smaragd wines also have great ageing potential.
Himmelstiege was originally a small steep slope in Dürnstein and became a popular Wachau wine many years ago. Today, the grapes for the Himmelstiege wines come from terraced vineyards, some of which are fortified with dry stone walls, and from vineyards along the Danube, mainly from Dürnstein and Loiben. The very poor soil and the exceptional exposure of the vineyards produce wines with classic Wachau fruit and minerality.
Ideal when served chilled, the wine goes perfectly with classic Austrian cuisine such as stuffed veal breast, roast goose and duck and even roast pork.
