Handcrafted German sparkling wine from winegrowers and wineries is becoming increasingly popular. Wine lovers not only in Germany have recognized the value of fine sparkling wines from Germany and find that they are in no way inferior to the "top dog" champagne.
In 2018, we decided to bring a cuvée to the bottle that actually goes in the Champagne direction, but still remains true to its origin, the Moselle. This noble and sophisticated cuvée is called "Cuvée Clara". It was named after the daughter of Nik and Daniela Weis.
It is almost a classic champagne cuvée made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. However, for the "Mosel touch", a good dash of Riesling is added for freshness, effervescence and elegance, but also because it is Mosel.

The Riesling winery Nik Weis - St. Urbans-Hof in Leiwen on the Moselle is run by Nik Weis and his family in the third generation. The winery has been a member of the renowned Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates (VDP) since 2000. The approximately 45 hectares of vineyards stretch for around 60 km along the Moselle and Saar rivers and are cultivated in the traditional way in harmony with nature. Five of the prestigious single vineyard sites, where world-class Rieslings are grown, are classified as VDP.Grosse Lage. The wines are fermented exclusively with natural yeasts.
