2019 Clos Dubreuil

Opaque purple with a black center and ruby reflections. Expansive, finely stewed bouquet with prunes, blackberry jelly, cardamom, a delicate scent of violets and liquorice. Demassine liqueur, cookie notes and chocolate shavings evoke childhood memories: a fresh Black Forest gateau at grandma's house. On the full-bodied palate with a silky texture, a tightly woven body with delicate muscles and fine mealy extract paired with a creamy fullness. The concentrated finish is a firework of dried small black berries, pencil lead and juniper. For me, this is just behind the grandiose 2016, but has a chance of catching up in drinking maturity!
