A spicy, harmoniously round, fruity-sweet Spätlese.
In our winery, the Laurentiuslay Spätlese is often the one with the lowest residual sweetness.
We are convinced that the site character of this extreme vineyard comes out most clearly in the fruity-tart rather than fruity-sweet range. Due to the hot microclimate, the very powerful and spicy flavor is reminiscent of brown spices such as clove and nutmeg, as well as ripe apricots and the grated peel of bitter oranges. Meanwhile, the somewhat rounder acidity structure is reminiscent of overripe lemons and provides structure and refreshment. Despite the effectively present residual sweetness, the Laurentiuslay Spätlese is classically savory, which is particularly enjoyable as a food companion after several years to decades of bottle ageing.
