The 2016 Clos du Marquis is composed of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc. It has a very deep garnet-purple color and is a bit somber at first, then shows notes of crushed black currant and black cherry with hints of warm plum, pencil shavings, earth and new leather with a touch of yeast extract. Medium-bodied with a rock-solid framework of grainy tannins, it has powerful fruit paired with freshness and finishes long and minerally.
