Arietta's 2014 Merlot Hudson Vineyards is beautiful. Surprisingly, it is also richer, deeper and racier than the Quartet and Cabernet Sauvignon of this vintage. The 2014 is very layered and supple, with impressive depth to match its creamy, inviting personality. Layers of plum, black cherry and mocha build on the supple, inviting finish. Of course, the 2014 is still quite young. It can be enjoyed today, but readers who appreciate the complexity that only develops in the bottle will have to be patient.
