The grapes for this local wine grow in two vineyards around Osthofen on calcareous marl and loess-loam soil. The vines are 10-30 years old. The grapes are selected several times by hand so that only ripe and healthy grapes with must weights between 87 and 89° Oechsle are harvested in mid to late September. Spontaneous fermentation. This is followed by 6 months of ageing on the lees until the wine is bottled in May of the following year.
The 2022 vintage shows its characteristic notes in an impressive way. It reveals aromas of green apples and citrus fruits in combination with a subtle minerality and a pleasant acidity structure.

The Steinmühle winery is located in Osthofen, in the southern Rheinhessen region of Wonnegau. It has been owned by the family since the beginning of the 18th century and has been managed by Axel May since 2009.
The vineyards are mainly located in Osthofen in the "Auf dem Schnapp", "Goldberg" and "Klosterberg" sites, as well as in the "Dittelsheimer Leckerberg".
We have been certified organic since 2019.
