2018 Le Desir Magnum

Consisting of 82% Cabernet Franc, 12% Merlot and 6% Malbec, the 2018 Le Désir was aged for 16 months in 100% new French oak. Deep garnet-purple in color, it is somewhat closed at first, but soon unfolds to reveal notes of cherry, raspberry jam and mulberry aromas as well as hints of cedar, crushed stones, bay leaves, Szechuan pepper and lavender with a touch of sandalwood. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with plenty of freshness to support the melange of pickled red and black fruits, structured by grainy tannins and with a lingering peppery kick on the finish. It may need a little more time than the La Joie and La Muse, but I suspect this beauty will reward patience.
