2023 Meerlust Chardonnay

This expressive, really good Chardonnay with impressive structure and depth comes from the top South African producer Meerlust. It presents itself with a medium yellow color and golden reflections in the glass. The nose is extremely complex, with notes of pears, citrus fruits, exotic fruits and fine vanilla notes. Full-bodied but always elegant on the palate, balanced, an enormous abundance of fruit with hints of tropical fruit underpinned by a fine acid structure, spicy, great creaminess and minerality. Wonderfully long finish. One of the great Chardonnays from South Africa.

Recommendation: Serve chilled at 9-12 degrees Celsius. It goes very well with fried fish dishes, e.g. fried loup de mer with creamy risotto, fried porcini mushrooms and fine poultry or veal. Medium-bodied cheese also goes well with this wine. Optimal drinking maturity until 2027.
