2018 Urtiga Douro

DOC Douro URTIGA comes exclusively from the Vinha da Urtiga vineyard. There are 63 different indigenous grape varieties growing on the plot, production is 100% organic and biodynamic practices have been implemented since 2017. The vines were planted on terraces dating back over 200 years before phylloxera, the average age of the vines exceeds 100 years and covers 3.4 hectares with around 12,500 vines. Tasting: URTIGA 2018 has a bright purple color with bright red reflections and a deep and fresh aroma. Then an enormous aromatic diversity unfolds in a very elegant way: forest, damp earth, red berries and a mineral rock. With more air, aromas of red fruits, but also spices such as green pepper and cloves are added. The elegance, the common thread of this wine, remains in the mouth with a silky attack in which red fruits such as strawberries and cherries come to the fore and a feeling of increasing volume is created. URTIGA has a long and structured finish with ripe tannins and exceptional freshness and liveliness.

Recommendation: We recommend pairing the D.O.C. Douro-URTIGA 2018 with game meat such as partridge or braised wild boar. Excellent with oven-roasted fish such as grouper or sea bass
