2022 Herdade dos Grous Moon Harvested

The grapes for this fascinating, powerful red wine from Herdade dos Grous, the Moon Harvested (100% Alicante Bouschet), are, as the name suggests, harvested by hand during fixed moon phases, in which the moon (similar to biodynamics according to Rudolf Steiner) has a positive influence on the ripeness of the grapes.

Intense, dense color in the glass. On the nose, complex, fresh aromas of red fruits such as cherries and blackberries, with a fine hint of vanilla (aged for 12 months in French barriques). Lots of juice and fresh red fruit on the palate, powerful structure, underpinned by velvety, soft, ripe tannins, spice, and again intense, juicy fruit on the long finish. Extremely exciting!

Recommendation: Serve decanted at 16-18 degrees Celsius, goes very well with hearty starters, well-seasoned game birds, roast beef, braised leg of lamb and mature hard cheese.
