Even before the first sip, spicy, peppery notes rise to the nose and, in combination with the pronounced alcohol attack, almost promise a cognac or whiskey-like drinking experience. Fortunately, it doesn't turn out to be that intense - the classic cassis and blackberry notes of Merlot come through when drinking, and a clever residual acidity still makes it nice and dry. Velvety tannins and chili notes dance down the throat as a skillful finish.
