Dark ruby red color, bright in the glass. The bouquet is multi-layered and wonderfully fruity, ripe black cherries, plums, wild berries, hints of black pepper, cloves and marzipan. On the palate, the wine is dense, with pronounced fruit, appealing roasted aromas, vanilla and tobacco notes, the tannins are ripe and velvety. The finish is long, spicy with warm fruit. A great Pinot Noir from New Zealand.
Recommendation: Drinking temperature 16-18 degrees Celsius, open 1-2 hours in advance, decant if necessary. Goes very well with dark meat dishes, e.g. braised beef shoulder with caramelized shallots and peppery cherries. Wild fowl and hard cheese made from raw milk or aromatic semi-soft cheese also go very well with this wine. Optimum drinking maturity until 2029.
