The ideal companion for any special occasion. Take the time to enjoy it. Documents dating back to 1900 show that the Baiken was acquired by the Prussian government for 1.12 million gold marks. The name Baiken comes from the mountain ridge "Biegen", as the site lies in a bend.
The steep south-facing slope receives optimal sunlight due to its gradient of up to 60%, which warms it up slightly. Medium to deep - stony, mostly lime-free - soils are composed of weathered slate, phyllites, quartzites and loess loam. The slope orientation is south-southwest. The soils are medium to deep, their structure is stony and crusty on pre-Devonian sericite gneiss, predominantly meta-rhyolite and phyllosilicate with loess loam admixtures.

Wines from the best sites
A unique cultural heritage, the best locations and the highest quality standards: these ingredients make our wines a special experience.
The vineyards of Weingut Kloster Eberbach cover almost 230 hectares in the Rheingau and on the Hessische Bergstrasse. The vines for our wines and sparkling wines grow on this terroir - sustainably and carefully produced, always with the demand for the best quality at an international level.
The history of Weingut Kloster Eberbach goes back just as far as the history of the cultural monument itself: Even for the French monks who settled in the Rheingau at the beginning of the 12th century, winegrowing was one of their main occupations. What was initially intended for their own consumption soon developed into a sought-after commodity that secured the future and prosperity of the monastery.
