2018 Riesling Reserve from the Rotliegende

Due to the less southern exposure compared to the Nierstein vineyards, the Nackenheim parcels produce a Riesling whose fruit is somewhat more restrained and whose stony spiciness is somewhat more pronounced. The tobacco aromas play wonderfully with a lively acidity and a not overly opulent body. The barren subsoil exorcizes the Riesling's playfulness and makes it appear austere, clear and very sublime. The long maturation on the lees and the partial ageing in large old barrels give the Riesling a wonderful fullness and elegant creaminess. The notes of summer herbs and smoky spice are joined by fine aromas of yellow fruit.

Recommendation: Serve chilled at 9-10 degrees Celsius as an aperitif, goes well with light starters, salads with roasted nuts and fried mushrooms, asparagus dishes, fried fish or fine poultry.
